Aim: COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant social, economic and health impact worldwide, including Hong Kong. It causes unpredictable challenges to healthcare system. After implementing quarantine social distancing measures, it is believed that patients have avoided seeking medical help due avoidance of settings. The aim the study investigate influence on presentation clinical outcome acute appendicitis, one commonest surgical disease. Mathod: Retrospective cohort was carried out in our cluster compare appendicitis during 1 January 2020 31 July with same period year before. Parameters time presentation, complicated rate, post-operative complication length stay were compared analysed. Results: A total 459 (229 pre-COVID group vs. 230 COVID group) included. There no difference basic demographics. a higher incidence (67% 52%, p = .028), rate (29% 7%, .042) trend longer (7.27 9.67 days, .163) February group. significantly March group(3.75 1.56 .031), which may correlate spike local confirmed cases. Conclusion: During pandemic, more presented late hospital, an increase rate. We must raise public awareness ensure prompt attendance case alarming symptoms.
